Leaf Composting
The Borough of Sewickley and the Borough of Leetsdale operate a joint municipal compost center. The leaves that fall from the trees and collected each fall are placed at this site in Leetsdale. The Borough of Sewickley alone in 2009 deposited approximately 880 cubic yards of leaves.
The Borough of Sewickley each month turns the leaf piles, no matter the temperature, and the result from this process is compost. The Borough of Sewickley will make the compost available for pick up at War Memorial Park during May, June and July in 2013. The Borough will NOT deliver the compost. The compost will be placed at War Memorial Park and it can be placed in buckets or vehicles or in any manner the resident or user wishes to pick it up. The Borough of Sewickley will not load the material.
If you are interested in the compost as it is, please contact the Borough of Sewickley Manager’s Office at 412-741-4015.
Please note that the leaf compost was used in the Division Street Parking Lot islands.
