The Sewickley Borough Police Department is comprised of eight full time and seven part time officers. The department currently provides police services and protection to Sewickley and Osborne Boroughs. Dispatch services are provided through the Allegheny County 9-1-1 system. The department takes measures to insure traffic safety. We participate in the Pennsylvania Click It or Ticket program. The officers are certified in the use of the VASCAR Plus speed timing device, and the BAC Datamaster breath alcohol testing device. We also have an officer that is a Pennsylvania certified motor carrier truck inspector to monitor the safety of the trucks traveling through our town. Another officer is a state certified traffic accident reconstructionist. We have a speed monitoring trailer to assist us in identifying possible problem areas that require additional attention.
We have an officer that is a Pennsylvania state certified child car seat safety technician. Appointments for child car seat inspections or installations can be made through the Community Liaison Office at (412) 741-4119.
Our department conducts DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) training in the elementary schools. Students are presented the health effects of using drugs, tobacco, and alcohol. They are instructed on how to deal with and avoid offers of drugs in the future.
We have officers involved with DANET (Allegheny County District Attorney’s Narcotic Enforcement Team), the Pennsylvania Attorney Generals Drug Task Force, and the Allegheny County Narcotics Detectives.
We have our own range master certified by the NRA as a police firearm instructor. He is also a certified instructor in the use of the taser and the police patrol rifle.
